BASOTI presents "Suor Angelica"
This one act opera takes place in a convent in 17th century Siena. While depicting the daily life and devotion of the sisters in the convent, Puccini slowly unravels the hidden past of one sister in particular. Though the sisters are taught to be free of all earthly desires, Sister Angelica has only one desire- to be reunited with her son she had seven years ago. Her story is tragic, but is told by Puccini with heart warming poignance and beauty that is characteristic of his operas. (Directed by Rod Gomez, conducted by Valery Ryvkin, sung in Italian).
