BASOTI presents "La Calisto"
In this rarely performed baroque opera, we catch a glimpse of the love affairs between divine and earthly beings. Whenever the gods are involved, you never know what may happen next. Lust may end in jealousy, and for the gods, jealousy ends in turning Calisto into a bear! With a bit of conspiring, cross dressing, rejection, and revenge, Cavalli weaves together a set of characters that present a mix of comedy and sincerity. This 17th century story is sure to surprise and entertain. (Directed by Yefim Maizel, conducted by Jun Nakabayashi, sung in Italian).
