Deadbeats in concert with opening act The Shreds
The Miners Foundry presents The Deadbeats and The Shreds on July 31, 2010 at 8:00 p.m. The Deadbeats play well-seasoned originals and Grateful Dead covers and are a local favorite. The Shreds are a powerful indie rock trio known for their alternate grunge sound with classic rock influence. This is an all ages event; with a no-host bar.
About The DeadBeats The DeadBeats formed during the Summer of 1994 on the notion that we could, somehow, pull off some reasonable Dead covers. After a handful of practices we decided to give it a go at Nevada City's old Mad Dogs and Englishmen Pub. When the place filled to capacity by 10:00 and folks had to line up outside the door, well, we new we were on to something. That "something" is a certain, indefinable, sound and feel that really captures the essence of a Dead show. Over the years band members have come and gone, but the core, Tom, Paul and Gary, have provided a solid continuity to the DeadBeat sound. These days the band, after taking a couple years break (with just a few shows), is contemplating a re-birth of energies. We recently held a concert at the Miner's Foundry in Nevada City and were amazed to see more than 400 people turn out. Thats the kind of energy and vibe that really stokes our fires!! Thanks and stay tuned!
About the Shreds The Shreds are a powerful indie rock trio, consisting of band members Dylan Rodrigue, vocals and guitar; Blake Severn, vocals and bass; and Griffin Meyer, drums. Reverbnation.com states "Imagine a creative collision between the raw power and intensity of Nirvana, the beautiful melodic and lyrical sense of Elliott Smith, and the kick-ass guitar jams of Phish all in the same song and you have a sense of The Shreds." The Shreds' debut album, Stranger, released in July 2009, was produced by five-time Academy Award nominee sound engineer Michael Herbick. The Shreds have won both the 2009 John Lennon Educational Bus Battle of the Bands and the 2008 SN&R Jammies competition. They were also nominated for a 2009 SN&R Sammies Award (Outstanding Teen Band category)
". . . The Shreds played a ferocious set of alternative grunge with a classic rock influence. . . . The Shreds have the angst-filled grunge of Smashing Pumpkins and Nirvana accentuated by the shredding guitar licks of Led Zeppelin and Jimi Hendrix. The Shreds are talented beyond their years, and I can't wait to see how this band will mature with more experience."
