Dream Weavers of the Pomo and Miwok
Ben Benson, anthropologist, museum director, and published author in Native American art, will examine the rich heritage of basketry arts of the North Bay tribal cultures. California Native American basketry designs and techniques represent an integrated environmental philosophy and complex spirituality. The class will also emphasize the special relationship that traditional Native American women have with plant communities. The day will include both classroom and field activities.
