The Territory Suites
WHO: Reject Dance Theater WHAT: The Territory Suites WHERE: The Dance Complex WHEN: March 20th & 21st at 8pm
ABOUT THE PERFORMANCE:
The Territory Suites marks RDT's first collaborative evening-length work. The piece explores "territory" from the perspectives of three unique choreographic voices.
The piece was first presented as a site-adaptive and immersive event at Movement at the Mills at the Boston Center for the Arts in April 2014. It embarks on a journey into human relationships, gender identity, and animal interactions.
COMPANY BIO:
Reject Dance Theatre (RDT) is a contemporary modern dance company founded by Smith College alumni Rebecca Hite Teicheira, Stephanie Simpson, and Stephen Ursprung after completing their Masters of Fine Arts degrees in 2012.
The mission of RDT is to continuously challenge an audience's perception of dance; whether it be by exploring the boundaries of one's physicality, integrating various mediums of visual and dramatic arts, challenging preconceived notions of commercialized dance forms, or delving into the psychology of dance. As collaborators we finds work most exciting when our bodies become strange to us; when we can look at the human form in a different light and discover new qualities within our moving selves that have previously lain dormant.
Currently, RDT is based in New York City and Boston and has performed in a variety of venues and festivals across the country including the MixMatch Dance Festival, Los Angeles, CA; Built on Stilts Festival, Martha's Vineyard, MA; Triskelion Arts in Brooklyn, NY; New Britain Museum of American Art, New Britain, CT; Trinity Rep Theater, Providence, RI; and Boston Center for the Arts, Boston, MA.
