Danny Swain presents: "The Danny Swain Variety Hour!"
WHO: Danny Swain WHAT: "The Danny Swain Variety Hour!" WHERE: The Dance Complex WHEN: Saturday, February 28th @ 8PM and Sunday, March 1st at 7pm
Performance:
"The Danny Swain Variety Hour" will have something for everyone! (except the kids, don't bring the kids - this shit's rated PG13) and March 1st is my birthday! So come help me celebrate with a few drinks and a lot of laughs!
You will be entertained by a 50's style musical theatre dance piece, and some hilarious lipsync numbers, including "Vanilla Ice" and "Aladdin" as well as 2 contemporary dance pieces and a Jazz-Funk Dance piece flavored with a side of Salsa!
You will also get a sneak peak at the 9 hilarious characters from Danny's upcoming ONE-MAN-SHOW, which is slated to premier this Fall at the Dance Complex. Each character is more hysterically offensive than the last. Included in the diversified cast (all played by Danny himself) are a closeted, talentless Broadway hopeful named "Jimmy Dazzle", a chain-smoking, washed up Vegas Show-girl, named "Lynette", who now sings like Harvey Fierstein, an Italian Pizza shop owner from the Bronx, "Lou Pimpanelli" who apparently "knows people", and a good Christian woman from the south, "Geogina Hucklebee" who is not too keen on those homosexual types". Other characters include an Asian driving instructor, a nerdy insurance salesman, a drunk, and more.
Artist Bio:
Danny holds a BFA in Theater from Salem State University, where he performed such roles as the Bellhop in "Lend Me A Tenor", Stanley in "The Birthday Party", Joey in "Beggars in the House of Plenty", and originated the role of Jack Frost in "The Snow Queen". It was at SSU that he studied dance and choreography under Caitlin Corbett, Jennifer Uhl and Sallee Slagle. He has been choreographing, performing and teaching throughout New England since 1997 when he established the Danny Swain Dance Company. His choreography ranges from contemporary, to jazz, to hip hop to musical theatre, and has been seen in such venues as the Hatch Shell on the Boston Esplanade, Seacoast Repertory Theatre in NH, Salem State University, Massachusetts College of Art, Green Street Studios, and the Dance Complex.
