Peter DiMuro and a stellar cast of collaborators bring a collection of dance and theatrical works to the unique venues at The Dance Complex. Recently premiered, Dos Hombres is a docu-dance that includes the lives of its performers within movement and text. Elver Ariza Silva is a Columbian born actor/dancer and adult survivor of polio; Nino de los Reyes is a son of "flamenco royalty" who has commanded stage worldwide, including his home turf of Madrid. Together, these dos hombres dialogue in dance and words.
Also on the program is a new work, Nearer, Closer... featuring some of Boston's most admired dancers. With a cast that spans five decades, this new work positions these unique individuals in traditional stage space as well as on site within The Dance Complex, in ways that illuminate each unique performer. Nearer, Closer... embodies the little and big dialogues we have with ourselves, with others and in the context of the groups we choose to belong to, and those groups that seem to choose us. Nate Tucker, composer , joins the cast as a collaborator.
Expect a few surprises: Peter DiMuro revels in bringing audience from reflection to a good belly laugh. Peter, a long time dance maker who returns to Boston after 20 years touring the world primarily as a performer and artistic director of Liz Lerman Dance Exchange, curates performances that include dance, words, images with the goal of engaging audiences.
