Two Boston Music Award winners celebrate the love on this Valentines day. Ruby Rose Fox, winner of Best Female Vocalist at this years BMA's is a songwriter and vocal powerhouse, whose genre bending lounge-pop style blends the best of today's female vocalists with a nostalgic quality that transcends today's musical landscape. When Particles Collide, winner of Best New Artist at this years BMA's, includes Southern Rock choruses, New Wave a la Blondie vocals, lightning speed Green Day-esque drumming, classic Motown grooves and Queens of the Stone Age-style riffs.
RUBY ROSE FOX - 2014 BOSTON MUSIC AWARD WINNER FOR BEST FEMALE VOCALIST Ruby Rose Fox became the front woman of the ska band Mass. Hysteria at the age of 15. Their first album was released in 2001 and Ruby found herself touring the country while still in high school. Mass. Hysteria was signed by Primary Voltage records and released Mistress and Men in 2004. Still in her teens, Ruby toured nationally performing with bands like Toots and the Maytals and playing venues including Irving Plaza, The Bowery Ballroom, The Knitting Factory and the House of Blues in LA.
Ruby Rose Fox embarked on her solo career in late 2011, recording the pop-noir song The Dread. Following a successful Kickstarter Campaign, Ruby released her self-titled EP, Ruby Rose Fox, recorded at the Mystic Steamship Co. in Arlington, MA. The five-track EP was produced by Emeen Zarookian of the Boston-based band Spirit Kid and mixed by Grammy Award-winning producer Paul Q. Kolderie (Radiohead, The Pixies).
WHEN PARTICLES COLLIDE, winners of BEST NEW BAND at this years 2014 Boston Music Awards, sound like the music of When Particles Collide includes Southern Rock choruses, New Wave a la Blondie vocals, lightning speed Green Day-esque drumming, classic Motown grooves and Queens of the Stone Age-style riffs and yet somehow it all sounds like Chris and Sasha. Hayley Jane and The Primates open
HAYLEY JANE AND THE PRIMATES Hayley Jane and the Primates deliver a genre-bending sound that is hard to define and a live performance that has started to create a serious buzz in the Northeast. The Primates' music draws inspiration from a variety of styles, including 60s/70s rock and pop, old musical theater, folk, blues, soul, reggae, psychedelic, funk, bluegrass, and country. Their catchy songs have been praised by a wide range of music lovers for successfully combining a diverse sound with clever, over-the-top lyrics and Vaudevillian style storytelling. However you decide to categorize the Primates musically, their on-stage energy, skilled musicianship, theatrics, and group improvisation will take you over a landscape of emotion that will leave you wanting more. The Primates just finished their first tour on the west coast and are mere months away from dropping their first full length album.
