William Shakespeare's "Measure for Measure"
Duke Vincentio has placed his city in the charge of a strict judge, Angelo, who means to rule firmly in the duke's absence and adhere to utmost purity. He decides to make an example of one Claudio, who has impregnated a maid out of wedlock. Isabella, Claudio's sister and a novice nun, devises a clever but risky scheme to trick Angelo and save her brother.
In one of Shakespeare's most unique creations, Measure for Measure blends soaring comedy and probing drama into a play that questions our values and our judgements.
Presented as part of Wherefore: Shakespeare in Raleigh, a convergence of arts organizations presenting work written or inspired by William Shakespeare, from January-June 2015.
