Emily Jill West CD Release

Alberta-born Emily Jill West was classically trained as a vocalist from a young age, but it wasn't until attending university on the east coast that she taught herself guitar and started writing songs. She shortly began performing her own material at events and open stages, making a name for herself in the Bay of Fundy acoustic/folk music scene. With a bird-like voice she has over the past few years developed a unique sound influenced by the likes of Gillian Welch, Neko Case, Emmylou Harris, Sarah Slean and Patty Griffin.

Straddling the music scenes of Calgary and Toronto, Emily Jill West is set to release her debut full-length album 'Witching Wand' late in 2014. Recorded at Audities Studio near Cochrane, AB with producer David Kean, Witching Wand adds a richer, full-band sound, accentuating Emily Jill West's songwriting at its best.

Musically, Emily Jill's songs are slow, dreamy and bare-boned, mixing her love of minor melodies with old-time country and folk.
