TRES PUNTALES
Three struts is a show in which I want to reflect the main facets "Cante, Guitart and Dance" of a fundamentally scenic art form "Flamenco".
Prove that these "Three Struts" have been and are of great importance from its beginnings to the time in which we find ourselves without departing from the traditional and give each strut their stuff to build the work that is to be displayed.
"THESE THREE STRUTS DEFINE WHICH ARE THE BASIS AND STRENGTH OF FLAMENCO"

Yolanda Osuna was born in Córdoba in 1981. She studied in the Cordoba conservatory of dance obtaining in 1999 her degree in Spanish dance with the highest grade. She has also completed her education with excellent artists such as Javier Latorre, Matilde Coral, Milagros Mengíbar or Blanca del Rey among others.  She has collaborated and shared the stage in numerous occasions with great figures of flamenco like: Mayte Martín, Miguel Poveda and Arcángel.

Yolanda has obtained numerous awards of which it is possible to emphasize the Antonio Hidalgo award for the national show of fandangos of Lucena, the Young flamencos people award of the Excma, Delegation of Cordoba, the National award of sevillanas Villa de la Carlota, and the Nationals of Ubrique and Cádiz. In addition she has been finalist in two of the most important international competitions of flamenco, the National of Cordoba and the Cante de las Minas de La Unión.

OLD TOWN SCHOOL FACULTY

Maya Tatiana

Maya represents the complete dancer. Her love of dance drove her to study many dance forms including oriental, jazz, and modern. She earned a bachelor's degree in dance from the University of Illinois. Upon seeing one of José Greco's spectacular performances, Maya became an aficionado of Flamenco. Subsequently, she traveled often to Spain to live and study the art of Flamenco. While living in Madrid, she performed at the Famed Molino Rojo. She has toured the U.S. with such companies and artists as the Boston Flamenco Ballet, Art España, Ballet de Madrid, José Greco and Susanna DiPalma's Zorongo Flamenco. Most recently she founded the Lucero Flamenco Dance group in Chicago. They have performed throughout the East Coast and the Midwest, including at the Folk and Roots Festival in 2005. Maya performs regularly at Meson Sabika in Naperville. She has been on faculty at the Old Town School of Folk Music since 2000. She also teaches at the ARCC Ballet, and at her own Flamenquita Studio here in Chicago.

Started at the Old Town School in October of 2000

Mehran Jalili. Flamenco Guitar, Dance Accompanist

Mehran was born and raised in Iran, until moving to the U.S. at age 14. This was when he started studying the guitar with his uncle, an accomplished musician who was well known in Iran. Mehran's early musical interests were the blues and rock. He performed with many Chicago local rock bands, including "No Romeo," which took him to Los Angeles to showcase for Electra and Virgin records.

Then, he discovered Flamenco, and began to study Flamenco and classical guitar with Mr. Ted Rachine. Soon, Mehran embarked on many adventures to Spain, where he learned from guitarists he admired, such as Antonio El Muneco and Juan de Madrid, and Sevilla's Rafael Mendiola. On Mehran's latest voyages to Spain, he studied with Amir Haddad (Radio Tarifa). Recently, he has been fine-tuning canté accompaniment with Sr. Manolo Segura, who sang in the movie "The Disappearance of Garcia Lorca."

Back in the U.S., Mehran has completed extensive guitar studies with Soulfood recording artist Pedro Cortes; Narada recording artist Chuscales; Michael Hauser; Arturo Martinez; Jacco Müller; Greg Wolf; Paulino Garcia; and learned jazz guitar with Bobby Broom. Mehran also plays guitar for Maya Tatiana, flamenco dancer, singer and choreographer, and former member of the Jose Greco Company. They have been performing together since 1998.

As both a soloist and accompanist, Mehran has performed with Northeastern University's "Ensemble Español," Azucena Vega Company, "Soul Y Duende," and "Los Preferidos." His performance venues have included the Old Town School of Folk Music, The Chicago Cultural Center, and many colleges and universities. Mehran has been a member of the guitar faculty at the Old Town School since 2002.

Started at the Old Town School in January of 2002.
