US Air Force Band - The Blue Yonders
As one of the newer performing groups of the USAF Band of the Golden West, The Blue Yonders offer a unique and energetic folk rock performance of Irish and bluegrass influence. The seven-member ensemble features a variety of instruments: Irish flute, penny whistle, accordion, bodhran, djembe, mandolin, guitar, bass guitar, French horn, trumpet, and of course, plenty of vocals. In addition to time-honored standards, The Blue Yonders put an Irish-bluegrass spin on American classic and modern rock tunes. This eclectic and imaginative group of professional Airmen musicians is certain to have you grinnin' and toe-tappin'.
Whether for a military function, community concert, or school assembly, The Blue Yonders' musicality is extremely adaptable. Their versatile programming suits them for many types of events, from outdoor festivals and university programs to indoor acoustic shows. They are sure to charm audiences of all ages.
In 2013, the group deployed as part of the U. S. Air Forces Central Band to boost morale of our deployed service members and to bolster diplomacy in host nation communities. They performed over 65 shows throughout 9 countries at military bases, embassies, civilian centers, and international schools. The talented members of The Blue Yonders are proud to represent the more than 325,000 Air Force professionals serving all around the world.
