THE ASTER CAFÉ VALENTINES SOIREE WITH ROMANTICA
This ticket is good SOLELY for admission to the River Room after 7PM on Valentines Day 2015. Tickets are limited.
From 8pm - 11:30pm the historic Aster River Room will be transformed into an intimate cocktail lounge. There will be no dinner service in the River Room, only in the Aster Cafe earlier in the evening. The River Room will offer a full bar.
Dublin, Ireland, is the home of st valentine, and the place where valentines day started!
The story goes like this:
Today, the relics of St. Valentine are part of the Carmelite Church in Dublin, number one on our list of the most romantic places in Ireland. The roots of St. Valentine are unreliable at best, so we're going to pick the romantic Irish story about him we like the best, tying him to romantic Ireland. Myth says Emperor Claudius II thought single men made the best soldiers, so he commanded no bachelors be allowed to marry. St. Valentine disagreed. He continued to marry couples in secret until he was executed for his betrayal.
St Valentines day at the aster will bring together the Kyle brothers--Luke Kyle is the chef at the Anchor fish and chips, and Ben Kyle is the lead singer, songwriter and frontman of the beloved alt-country band Romantica.
Luke will be helping us in the aster kitchen as we prepare some Irish menu items including the notorious anchor shepherd's pie, and Ben Kyle and Romantica will take to the river room stage at 8pm for a special st valentines performance.
St Valentines dinner will be served in the aster red room--regular aster menu will be accompanied by our special Irish menu:
mulligatawny soup 6/8
dublin smoked salmon salad with herbed goat cheese, capers, pickled cucumbers and vinaigrette 10.00
bangers and mash with mustard beer gravy and kale pesto 14.00
the anchor sheperd's pie 14.00
river room tickets available on brown paper tickets for 15.00, doors and bar open at 7pm
Aster Red Room reserved seating at 7pm includes mandatory 15.00 cover charge for music, order from menu. This ticket guarantees you access to the River Room for Romantica.
Ramp parking is recommended because it's convenient & inexpensive at $3 after 4pm. Enter ramp off 2nd ST SE & 2nd Avenue SE. Take the ramp elevator to "T" for tunnel which takes you directly to the Aster. No walking outside!
