U2 themed Radio8Ball Show with FLORA MCGILL & ELECTRON LOVE THEORY
The Radio8Ball Show - Hosted by Andras Jones Questions Answered. Answers Questioned.
"The Radio8Ball live shows offer a visceral, edge-of-your-seat excitement that often pays off in startling ways" - Paul Constant
A night of live musical divination hosted by ANDRAS JONES. Part rock and roll cabaret, part mystic mind expansion, Radio8Ball is the show where questions are answered by picking songs at random and interpreting the randomly chosen songs as the answer to the questions, like shaking a musical 8ball. The songs are performed by our featured musical guest.
For the season finale of The Radio8Ball Show at Theater Off Jackson we wanted to do something special. We looked at our calendar and noticed that on June 20th we would be sharing our neighborhood with this big band from Ireland. You may have heard of them. They are called U2. The decision was made to follow this synchronistic cue and present a U2-themed Pop Oracle show with Flora McGill and Electron Love Theory performing songs from their "Standing In The Shadows of U2" CD which is an electronica project featuring an array of great female vocalists, and try and get someone from U2 to Skype-In and ask a question. Of course, as soon as the booking was official the news reported that U2 frontman Bono had suffered a back injury which recquired the band to postpone their tour.
So, now we are the only U2 action in town that night.
This final show of our spring season at TOJ will also feature Skype-Ins from natural time visionary Eden Sky (http://13moon.com/) and synchronistic musicologist Ezra Sandzer-Bell (http://tonecoloralchemy.com/) as well as the usual prizes from Scarecrow Videos and your questions.
And now that U2 won't be as busy that night we are REALLY hoping that we can get someone from the band to Skype-In and ask a question. Previous Skype-In guests this season have included Calvin Johnson, Andy Dick, Rae Dawn Chong, Seth Green, Nina Hartley, John C. Reilly, Weird Al Yankovic, C. Thomas Howell and Anthony Rapp.
"For major shivers or just a fresh way of looking at things "R8B" is a uniquely amusing reminder that humanity has a collective fate." - The Los Angeles Times
