The operation saves his physical life but leaves him in a spiritual quandary: Who am I now -- who is the new Sullivan. An artist and a college teacher of art history he no longer trusts his new hands and has given up painting. His once successful marriage is quietly on the rocks: he keeps his wife at arms length if he fathers a child, whose will the offspring bethe man whose body he has taken or the cancer-riddled Sullivan. Complicating his life is an attractive graduate student who is drawn to Sullivan's paintings but is unaware of his inner conflicts and growing embitterment. His English teacher best friend is a devout Catholic who urges him to come to Sunday services. His is an ongoing struggle of return to life as he knew it before his physical transformation or to embark on a new path. USA, 2009, 92 min.
