With their debut album in 1968, Creedence Clearwater Revival launched a career that one year later would enjoy enormous worldwide popularity. The four man group from San Francisco's East Bay had worked ten years as a bar band (under the name The Golliwogs) before settling on the CCR name. The group consisted of brothers John (lead guitar, vocals) and Tom Fogerty (rhythm guitar), Stu Cook (bass) and Doug Clifford (drums). In 1969 the group had their first big smash hits with Proud Mary and Born On The Bayou. With the band's gritty vocals, tight leads and infectious rhythm, John Fogerty's lyrics evoked Mississippi and bayou folk legends, a world of voodoo fortune tellers, hoodoos, and hound dogs, and together with his raspy-voice delivery, prompted wide speculation that the band was of southern origin. Although they lasted only five years (ending in 1972) they recorded many timeless songs. This program features amazing rare live concerts, television appearances, promos, and more! Songs include Bad Moon Rising, Fortunate Son, Travelin' Band, Green River, Sweet Hitch-Hiker, Midnight Special, Down On The Corner, Looking Out My Back Door, plus many more CCR classics!
