The U.S. Department of Arts and Culture presents: The 2015 People's State of the Union, Poetic Address to the Nation
***What if the annual State of the Union was not a speech spoken by one, but a poem created by many?***
From January 23-30, 2015, individuals in more than 150 communities across the country are hosting "story circle" events, inviting neighbors to reflect on the current state of our union. Scribes from each event will upload stories online and individuals anywhere will also be welcome to submit their own stories through the USDAC site. Inspired by these stories, a diverse group of poets from across the U.S. will co-create the "2015 Poetic Address to the Nation," as a poem to be performed and broadcast live from the Bowery Poetry Club on February 1, 2015.
Join us for the culmination of the first-ever People's State of the Union.
