CHAUNCEY with special guest COUNT ZERO
Saturday 1/31 - THE RETURN OF CHAUNCEY with COUNT ZERO and surprise GUESTS $12 advance / $12 at the door 8:30 doors / 9:15 show http://chaunceyband.com http://www.count-zero.com
In 2004, the lauded Boston rock band Chauncey released their sophmore record on the same day that they played their final show and broke-up. GMail had been invented just 2 months prior, Facebook would still for years be only a service that Harvard College students could play "am I hot or not" on, and YouTube's first upload entitled "Me at the zoo" was a year away from being filmed. While there has yet to be a web service developed that will magically pay-off crippling debt, mediate endless band discussions, and ease the concerns of young men entering their 30's; the aforementioned services would have helped solve a number of difficult challenges that musicians faced in the early oughts.
Fast-forward 10 years, where a casual hangout over the course of a weekend at a recording studio, suddenly and unexpectedly gives rise to perhaps Chauncey's most definitive and blistering record to date; finding them stunned to say to themselves "whoa, I think we're a band again!"
"To Love Once More," Chauncey's third record, will be released and debuted to friends, family and the greater public of Boston on January 31st at one of the finest rooms for music in Cambridge - The Lizard Lounge.
Sharing the bill in this double-headliner is the great Count Zero; led by Peter Moore. Aside from serving as primary songwriter in the groundbreaking band "Think Tree," Peter has moonlighted as lead vocalist for the Blue Man Group's popular world tour "The Complex," and is known for meticulously "weaving Count Zero tracks like a Persian rug." (TED DROZDOWSKI, The Boston Phoenix) Catch the band as they stretch out in a full-bodied set of music that affords "a unique listening experience known for grabbing even the most jaded ears." (JIM SULLIVAN, Boston Globe)
Chauncey performs first, Count Zero follows; with an open third set of music by various combinations of the two bands.
