Laurie Sargent has been a music maker and part of the Boston music scene for over three decades. From her early start with the rock band Face to Face through her current shows with Orchestra Morphine and solo shows with Johnette Napolitano (Concrete Blonde) Laurie has always shown she's an impressive singer, inventive writer, and a spectacular performer. Tonight she joins an all start cast featuring Stuart Kimball (Bob Dylan), Billy Beard (Patty Griffin, Session Americana), Jeremy Moses Curtis (Booker T), and Evan Harriman (Twinemen, The Chip Smith Project) to present none other than Carole King's 1971 classic album Tapestry. The band will be performing the entire record top to bottom.
The night will begin with Laurie performing songs solo from her catalog of original tunes followed by Ellie and Isa... Ellie Buckland and Isa Burke are fiddlers and singer-songwriters who love traditional music and close harmonies. With two fiddles, two guitars, and two intertwining voices, they perform old folk songs, new Americana, and original songs in an acoustic roots style. They met at a fiddle camp in the woods of Maine, their shared home state, and are now both studying at Berklee College of Music. Whenever possible, they are joined by a fellow Mainer, Mali Obomsawin on bass. They bring heart, soul, energy and depth to honest music that blends the old and the new. They have graced the stages of One Longfellow Square, Club Passim, and Grey Fox Bluegrass Festival, and were awarded a 2014 Iguana Music Fund grant to record their debut EP, coming in 2015.
