Real Food: A Look at Ancestral Diets and Why More Fat is Better
Please join us before the lecture for a reception beginning at 6:15. Wine and light snacks will be provided; feel free to BYOB as well.
Low fat diets make us hungry and crabby. And for what? They also make us fat and sick. Real food with more fat means weight loss, better health and zero hunger!
The Ancestral Health Movement encourages practices that are modeled from the way people ate and moved a long time ago, aiming to prevent or cure diseases of civilization. Examples of Ancestral Diets include Paleo, Primal, Perfect Health and Real Food.
In this presentation, Ms Calihan will discuss what the current USDA diet recommendation ("My Plate") is doing to health in America and why we need to find a better way. We will learn why saturated fat is our friend and does NOT cause heart disease. We will also learn the science behind the Ancestral Diets and why they work to control inflammation and insulin production.
Please join us for an enlightening and uplifting conversation about improving our health in the New Year!
Jenni Calihan holds a BA in Human Biology from Stanford University and an MBA from Tuck/Dartmouth. She has done extensive reading on the connection between food and wellness, the obesity epidemic, the ancestral health movement, and alternative perspectives on dietary paths to wellness. She has been consciously feeding her family for 20 years.
