Brilliant Traces in Seattle through Actors Theater of Orcas Island
The Actors Theater of Orcas Island is presenting the critically acclaimed play "Brilliant Traces" by Cindy Lou Johnson for nine performances in Seattle. Cast in the role of Henry Harry is a newcomer to the stage, Seattle's former Police Chief, Norm Stamper. Melinda Milligan, who plays Rosannah, has played leading roles in "Wait Until Dark", the Female Version of Neil Simon's "The Odd Couple", "Enchanted April" in addition to several other roles.
Together, Rosannah and Henry, in the words of the playwright, "alternately repel and attract each other. In the end, their very isolation proves to be the catalyst that allows them to break through the web of old griefs and bitter feelingsand to reach out for the solace and sanctuary that only hard-won understanding, self-awareness and compassion for the plight of others can bestow."
Frank Rich wrote of "Brilliant Traces" in the New York Times, "Ms. Johnson has spun an alternately comic and anguished fable about contemporary men and women who run away from home - whether from parents, children or mates - and she has written it with an imaginative disregard for pedantic reality. [The play deals with] common issues of love and familywith characters, stories and dialogue so fantastic that they could exist only within the enchanted realm of the stage."
This production brings life and energy to this wonderful play.
Special note: The Seattle performances will open with a fund raiser for New Beginnings October 21st. For more information on New Beginnings visit: www.newbegin.org
