Cemetery Man
Based on the 1991 novel by Tiziano Sclavi, Cemetery Man, Dellamorte Dellamore, stars Rupert Everett in the role he was born to play. Francesco Dellamorte: the undertaker of a small Italian village, who, when not fending off the dead that return to life 7 days after burial, deals with rumors of impotence, necrophilia, and a mentally handicapped assistant with an obsession for the Mayor's daughter.
Exasperated by the town not believing his reports of the dead coming to life, Francesco decides it is just easier to kill and rebury the living dead. After he inadvertently kills the love of his life, Francesco is haunted by a repeatedly appearing cavalcade of women, each being an identical look alike to his lost love.
At its center, Cemetery Man is a black comedy/existential mediation on loneliness and career disappointment. Standing as the last installment of the Italian Zombie movement, Cemetery Man ushers in the next generation's take on the genre. Merges humor, gore, and poetic themes of existence into a film Martin Scorsese called one of the best Italian films of the 90s.
