Sally Mayes' Broadway Concert: A Tony Celebration w/ Introduction By Rex Reed
In the Arthur Newman Theater at the Joslyn Center in Palm Desert... Sally Mayes performs a Broadway Concert and shares stories of her departed friend, Paul Newman.
Sally Mayes made her Broadway debut in Cy Coleman's WELCOME TO THE CLUB and is perhaps best known for her performance in the revival of SHE LOVES ME, which won Ms. Mayes Tony, Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle nominations. The New York Times calls Mayes "a singer of incandescent ebullience, deliciously saucy."
And... Rex Reed introduces Sally from afar as she sings a number from Rex Reed's IRA WITHOUT GEORGE, honoring the songs Ira Gershwin wrote without his brother George, which is currently touring the country with performances in New York, Dallas, Houston, Las Vegas and more. Sally Mayes is one of the many vocalists in this concert, along with a rotating cast that includes Polly Bergen, Tom Wopat, Linda Purl, James Naughton, Marilyn Maye, Kurt Reichenbach and more with musical direction by Tedd Firth.
