Kidrockers presents Looker and Reggie Watts
KIDROCKERS presents LOOKER and REGGIE WATTS on Sunday, March 11 at 1 pm at The Underground Lounge, 995 West End Ave. (between 106th and 107th street), NY, NY. *********************************************************** KIDROCKERS brings some of the most engaging and vital artists in indie music and comedy to children and their parents. These ALL AGES shows are designed to expose families to the vibrant music scene. Artists will perform original (not specifically made for children) songs in a manner that is both authentic and kid-friendly. ************************************************************* "We love to hear great new music -- and so do our kids." says KIDROCKERS founder Beth Rockers. "We wanted to create an opportunity for kids and parents to discover artists and get to see them play live in a safe and comfortable environment."*********************************************************** "New year, new rock: LOOKER are a New York quartet with three singing women - founding guitarists Boshra AlSaadi and Nicole Greco and bassist Rachel Smith - who kick and coo on their debut album, 'Born Too Late' (Looker), with one collective stiletto heel in the Brill Building circa 1963 and the other in what used to be CBGB. The band, which includes drummer boy Robbie Overbey, doesn't hide its debts to Blondie, the Runaways and the Shangri-Las. Instead, Looker write rolling la-la thunder like "Hey Kids" and "Gregory" that repays the lessons with interest. " (Rolling Stone Magazine DAVID FRICKE'S PICKS (pg. 74) Jan/07)********************************************************* 2006 winner of the Andy Kaufman Award, REGGIE WATTS is "totally original, mixing Fatboy Slim, Eminem, neo-Lewis Carroll and even, unintentionally, old-school British comedian Norman Collier... I am speechless. Watts is, in the best sense, unpredictable and indescribable, though I'll try 'a sonic Salvador Dali'. (Chortle.co.uk) "Extraordinary virtuoso performances of looped vocals. Original and very funny." (Metro) *********************************************************** Comic-actor SETH HERZOG will host the show. Seth's long running weekly show "Sweet" is a staple of the downtown alternative comedy scene and he appears regularly on VH1, MTV and Comedy Central. ************************************************************** Sponsored by Hasbro, Inc and Cold Stone Creamery West 72nd Street. Hasbro, Inc., has donated entertaining games and toys, which are given away at each show. Kid-friendly snacks and lunch available at the Underground Lounge restaurant before and after the shows. For dessert, Cold Stone Creamery will be giving away two of their Creations --- Birthday Cake Remix and Oreo Overload. *************************************************** Note this show will be filmed for an online broadcast. By buying tickets you are giving permission for you and your guests to be videotaped and broadcast.
