Edible World: The Spice Necklace
First Person Arts cooks up another Edible World program with delicious food and storytelling, pairing the exotic cuisine of Trinidad with a new Caribbean travelogue/memoir.
Spices will abound at an authentic Trinidadian dinner prepared by Claudette Campbell, owner and chef of Calypso, and served al fresco at the Chestnut Hill Farmers Market.
Author Ann Vanderhoof will illustrate the history behind these diverse flavors and regale guests with tales of adventurous eating, as described in her new book "The Spice Necklace: My Adventures in Caribbean Cooking, Eating and Island Life."
Chef Campbell will reveal the culinary journey that took her from Trinidad to New York to Chestnut Hill.
MENU Appetizer "Doubles" ("Spiced chick peas inside two pieces of a bread like thing it's delicious," says FPA volunteer and resident foodie Mia Aronson.) Entree and sides- Stew Chicken with peas and rice, fried plantains and a tossed green salad* Dessert Pound cake Drink Strawberry Mango lemonade with fresh cut-up fruit. *Vegetarians will get a main course consisting of all the side dishes.
This event will be held rain or shine - dinner will be served inside the Chestnut Hill Hotel in the event of rain.
