City of Merchants is a fundraiser for New Amsterdam Market celebrating the independent businesses who are restoring the health and vitality of our communities, urban and rural. This event will be held on the afternoon of Saturday, May 22 at the New York Marble Cemetery, a hidden garden of the 19th century. That morning, we will also hold a special market of wild botanicals at the same Marble Cemetery location. Wild Botanicals takes place rain or shine; the afternoon fundraiser rain date is Sunday, May 23
Wild Botanicals
Saturday May 22, Rain or Shine 11:00am - 1:00pm
A focused display of wild botanicals harvested with care by Nova Kim and Les Hook, renowned gatherers from Fairlee, Vermont and founders of the Wild Food Gatherers Guild. This is a rare opportunity to meet Nova, Les, and other Guild members and learn about the importance of wild foods to our diets and to the preservation of open lands and forests.
Though nature is always unpredictable, the gatherers expect to bring wild watercress, wild ginger, cattail hearts, wood nettles, wild angelica, pepperwort, pine buds, morels, pheasant backs, and more.
Admission is $5, payable in cash at the Merchant's Gate; (afternoon fundraiser ticket holders admitted at no charge).
