Outside Mullingar

The City Island Theater Group is proud to kick-off its 16th season with John Patrick Shanley's Outside Mullingar. Just on Broadway last year, Outside Mullingar is a touching, romantic comedy that pulls on the heartstrings while inspiring laughter. Our friend, John Patrick Shanley, an Academy, Tony and Pulitzer Prize Award winning writer and Bronx native has given the City Island Theater Group permission to be the first community theater group to present this fantastic show. We are extremely grateful for his support and kindness!

Outside Mullingar is the story of the Muldoon and Reilly families who have been living side by side for generations and are hotly disputing a sliver of land between their farms. At the center of the story are the rival heirs, Rosemary and Anthony, each filled with enough anger, yearning and willfulness to keep them apart for years to come. Outside Mullingar is a compassionate, delightful play about how it's never too late to go after what you want.
