Dinner & A Movie - MARCH 6, 2015 at 6:30PM
Maestra  15m - Director Catherine Murphy.   Maestra explores the experience of eight women who, as young girls, taught on the Cuban Literacy Campaign of 1961.  The volunteer teachers lived with the families they taught, working alongside them in the fields during the daytime & teaching classes (often by kerosene lantern) at night. In the midst of the campaign, the Bay of Pics was invades, and in spite of the dangers and difficulties, their eyes sparkle as they share their stories.

The No Name Painting Association 23m - Director Director Joe Griffen, China.  During the Cultural Revolution, when only art that served the political goals of the regime was allowed, a group of young underground artists met in Beijing's parks to paint what was then considered subversive art - landscapes, still-lifes and self-portraits. They numbered some fifteen young people, men and women, between the ages of 16 and 30.  At great risk to themselves and flaunting the laws against assemblies greater than three people, they gathered in small groups to paint, to exchange ideas, to pass along hand-copied forbidden books by Kerouac and Ginsberg.

Cowboys Of Color: A Multi-Cultural Legacy - 28m - Directed by Coy Poitier. The American Frontier, also known as the Wild West, has been the source of countless legends, icons, and heroes such as, Billy The Kid, Jesse James and Lawman Wyatt Earp. The myth of the Wild West has inspired many historians, educators, writers, and filmmakers to publish stories about the dangers of life in the Western Frontier. From famous singing cowboys, to the legendary cowboy and Indian battles, no other stories of American history are more celebrated in books and film than those of the Wild West. But is that the whole story?
