Jimi Hendrix is one of the greatest guitar heroes of rock and roll. As a musician he was sensational. As a composer, singer and producer, he was decades ahead of his time. A unique blend of artist and showman, he played the guitar with his teeth, behind his back, and even lit it on fire for a blazing showstopper! Although he recorded professionally for only five short years and died way too young, he left a unique playing style, and a lasting legacy of hit songs that are part of the pop music history and vision of the Woodstock culture. With the two groups he formed, The Jimi Hendrix Experience and Band of Gypsy's, his music pushed the boundaries of pop groups as he covered Rock, R&B, Blues, Jazz, Funk and Soul. Even some forty years later, Jimi Hendrix is one of the most important icons of 1960s music and a powerful influence on countless musicians. Songs featured in the program include "Purple Haze," "Foxy Lady," "Hey Joe," "The Wind Cries Mary," "Fire," "Wild Thing," the glorious "Star Spangled Banner," and many more! We are proud to celebrate his incredible genius with this amazing collection of rare promotional films, live concert footage, television appearances, rehearsal footage, and out takes.
