IT CAME FROM KUCHAR
Wednesday, May 19 at 7:30pm Guest Speaker: ANDREW LAMPERT, Anthology Film Archives Members $9 Public $13 No Refunds Includes Reception
Long before YouTube, there were the outrageous, no-budget movies of underground, filmmaking twins George and Mike Kuchar. In the early 1960's, alongside Andy Warhol, the Kuchar brothers shaped the New York underground film scene. Known as the "8mm Mozarts," their films were wildly funny, but also human and vulnerable.Their films have inspired John Waters, Buck Henry, Atom Egoyan and Guy Maddin (all interviewed in this film). The Kuchars remain largely unknown because they are only ambitious to make movies, not to be famous. Affectionately directed by one of George's former students, Jennifer M. Kroot, It Came From Kuchar will introduce you to two brothers who love to make movies and continue to inspire others. USA, 2010, 86 min.
Known as the 8mm Mozarts of Underground Filmmaking, the Kuchar Brothers are famous for films that are wildly funny, but also very human, vulnerable, and inspirational
