Big Band Extravaganza Under the Stars
Saturday, June 5 Big Band Extravaganza(Tickets: $13/$11/$10) The Stan Kenton Jazz Orchestra recorded the incredible and historic Cuban Fire Suite, composed by legendary Johnny Richards-- the year was 1956. The Albuquerque Jazz Orchestra (Under the Direction of Bobby Shew) is thrilled to perform Cuban Fire Suite in its entirety, adding to the AJO instrumentation french horns, tuba, and multiple percussion in order to produce a near-symphonic experience. An unabridged performance of this extremely challenging and exciting suite is a rare experience for audiences and not to be missed. Opening for the AJO are the NMJW Honor Bands, (High School bandleader, Christian Pincock, Middle School band leader, Sam Nesbit) the next generation of jazz musicians.
