Jack's Waterfall and Nina and her Band at Last Licks Cafe
On Saturday May 22nd, Last Licks end our 2009-10 season with a double bill bang featuring Jack's Waterfall and Nina and her Band.
Jack's Waterfall is the musical adventure of singer/songwriter and musician, Jack Licitra. Pop, blues, jazz, folk, gospel and global music all meet at The Waterfall, a place of healing and learning. Since 1998 Jack has released 5 albums, and shared the stage with the likes of Levon Helm, Richie Havens and The Allman Brothers. The group plays music that has been called 'inspirational,' 'Zen,' 'emotional' and 'energetic.' All of these suggest a magical experience led by a talented musician with unique communicative power If you like Jackson Browne, Van Morrison and Martin Sexton, you will love Jack and his band's soulful tunes.
Nina Romano's music reverberates to a not-so-far-away time and place while sounding completely contemporary. Nina is
influenced by the likes of Bob Dylan, The Carter Family, Johnny Cash, Dusty Springfield, The Velvet
Underground and Nico, as well as a myriad of French philosophers and beat poets such as: Rimbaud, Sartre,
Ferlinghetti, Ginsberg, and Emerson. You may hear these influences or other traces of punk, folk, rock, ambient,
experimental, Hindustani classical, or country. Or maybe you won't hear any of that. And that's fine because it's not what
you label it, it's what you take from it. Nina recently releasedher debut CD, MANY HANDS MAKE MURKY WORK.
