Wedding Song
Myriam and Nour, two 16 year old Tunisian girls, one a Jew and one a Muslim have been almost inseparable since birth. They share the normal dreams of love, happiness and teenage sexual curiosity. The 1942 arrival of the Germans causes profound change in this harmonious, multicultual neighborhood, Jews and Muslims are drawn apart. Myriam's mother, robbed of their rights and assets, is forcing her to marry an older, wealthy doctor. Despite the religious and political turmoil, Myriam and Nour find that they need one another more than ever. Please be advised, there is a scene depicting female sexuality as part of an intimate pre-nuptial religious ritual. Introduction by Dr. Moisy Shopper, Clinical Professor of Child Psychiatry & Pediatrics SLU School of Medicine.
