WE ALL WE GOT premiers their independent Hip Hop Showcase at Berkeley's renowned venue, Ashkenaz. New to this Bay Area showcase, the May 20th Show in Berkeley is the first All Ages event in the series, allowing artists under 21 years old to share the platform. Presented by Inhouse Talent and hosted by Revolutionary Poet Sellassie, WE ALL WE GOT is designed to expose interesting and determined emerging artists, cultivate relationships, and build community among independents.
Advocates of independent music, Inhouse Talent's Gina Gallo and Sellassie see the opportunity to contribute to the local arts community among ambitious, forthcoming artists. Hip Hop artist Sellassie states, "We are the Future" and realizes the vast talent here in the Bay Area. "Local promoters bring in all these other rappers from all over the country for shows and have stars right here in the Bay."
WE ALL WE GOT host Sellassie is shining as a leading progressive voice in Bay Hip Hop. With an acclaimed debut release, I'm Tryin' to Make a Livin' Not a Killin', and a new follow-up album, Sins of Your Forefathers, he is carving his niche in Hip Hop. Although inspired and motivated from reading hundreds of books, Sellassie is self-taught and came up on the streets. Sellassie's lyric is rooted in a deep comprehension of the world around him. He writes on domestic and world politics, international relations and community needs, corporate thuggery and the obstacles independent artists face. He has seen first hand the problems that his music addresses. He has seen black on black crime, he has lost many close friends to homicide, he has seen the drugs and money destroy his community, he has witnessed the decay of Independent Bay Hip Hop. The listener takes a ride with Sellassie, San Francisco's next rising son, thru 16 thought-provoking and inspiring tracks, coming direct from a young thinker, writer and poet.

Hard Knock Radio (HKR), 94.1 FM- KPFA's daily drive time Hip Hop public affairs show, is a natural fit. HKR, hosted by Davey D, Weyland Southon, Anita Johnson and DJ Mike Biggz, hit the air weekdays at 4pm offering news, views, breaks, and beats. On the community radio station KPFA, has allowed HKR the freedom to provide an outlet for national and international urban artists and musicians largely ignored by the Hip Hop media. Ever-growing, HKR is heard in the Bay Area as well as syndicated on WFRG in Atlanta, KBOO in Portland, KBCS in Seattle, and on XM Satellite Radio and world-wide on kpfa.org.
