Paul Rinzler and Dylan Johnson Music at the Fellowship
Paul Rinzler, piano and Dylan Johnson, bass, will perform a program of jazz standards from the Great American Songbook as well as modern jazz works by musicians such as Miles Davis, John Coltrane and Thelonius Monk. Concert is at 2PM on Sunday, January 18, 2015 at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of San Luis Obispo, 2201 Lawton Street, San Luis Obispo, CA 93402, across from Meadow Park. This event is family friendly and tickets can be purchased on Brownpaperticket.com or at the door. No one will be turned away. More information is available at uuslo.org. Paul Rinzler is Director of Jazz Studies at Cal Poly. He received his doctorate in Theory/Composition with secondary emphasis in Jazz Pedagogy. Paul has several publications and has worked as accompanist for the jazz choir recording Hot IV that was nominated for a Grammy award. Rinzler has been awarded several National Endowment of the Arts grants, including a jazz performance grant. Dylan Johnson has a graduate degree from SUNY Conservatory of Music and a bachelor's degree from Berklee College of Music. He is seen playing "side" with many Central Coast greats including Inga Swearingen, Charlie Shoemake and often accompanies touring jazz groups. He has worked with John Abercrombie, Adam Nussbaum,Shunzo Ono, Ray Vega and others.
