Baking with Marcus Gardley: A Playwriting Bake-Off
The award winning writer, author of the critically acclaimed and Jesus Moonwalks the Mississippi returns to the New Play Institute for a 10-day playwriting intensive! Join Marcus this August for a "Playwriting Bake-Off" and cook up a rich and layered new work in 10 days!
Limited to only 10 participants, writers will be offered five ingredients from which to complete a new draft of a play in 72 hours. The remaining classes will be used to workshop each play around this "recipe" to create a fresh, rich, and bold new dish. Writers will be encouraged to feed their imaginations and defy convention, and will be given specifically tailored, detailed feedback suited for each individual dish. This class is ideal for writers who wish to experiment with form and challenge themselves to get a lot accomplished in a short period of time.
If this doesn't sound delicious enough for you hungry writers, registered students will also receive a 50% discount on a Bay Area Playwrights Festival VIP pass, good for entry into two weekends of festival readings, symposiums, and parties.
Price: $400 $150 deposit required.
