Early Sacred Music Concert by Mostly Motets, 3:30 p.m. Saturday June 12, 2010 in Berkeley, CA
The ensemble will give a concert of unaccompanied, early sacred music at three San Francisco Bay Area venues on June 5, 6, and 13, 2010. The tentative program includes both familiar and rarely performed pieces from the Renaissance and Middle Ages like the following:
William Byrd: Emendemus In Melius Josquin Desprez: Ave Maria...Virgo Serena Josquin Desprez: Inviolata, Integra et Casta Chant and Guillaume Dufay: Ave Maris Stella Chant and Maurice Durufle: Ubi Caritas Hildegard von Bingen: O Virtus Sapientiae Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina: Sicut Cervus Thomas Tallis: O Nata Lux Tomas Luis de Victoria: Ave Maria for Double Choir
This performance will be in the sanctuary of Saint Mark's Episcopal Church, 2300 Bancroft Way, Berkeley, CA 94704. Directions, transportation and parking information are available on the directions page of the church's web site: www.stmarksberkeley.org. The venue is wheelchair accessible.
Tickets are $12 if purchased on or before June 1st or $16 after that.
Many of the works performed in this concert will also be included in a chant-polyphony learn-and-sing workshop on June 13th, during the Berkeley Early Music Festival. That workshop will feature Susan Hellauer and Marsha Genensky of Anonymous 4 together with Mostly Motets. Tickets for that event are also for sale on this web site.
