Repo the Genetic Opera!
"Repo! The Genetic Opera" is an American rock-opera musical film which is based off of the play written and composed by Darren Smith and Terrence Zdunich. The film which takes place in a futuristic, post-apocalyptic world paints a frightening picture of the future of healthcare. At a time when organs fail as regularly as cars and transplants are a regular occurrence, the healthcare industry is controlled by a megacorporation (GeneCo) and its Repo Men. The Repo Men are those assigned to repossess any and all organs sold through GeneCo when payments are missed directly from the body they inhabit.
The film which became an instant cult classic toured the country in spring of 2009 as part of the Repo! Road Tour, a tour which brought the movie along with the writer and few of the actors to theatres across the country.
As part of the original tour the film stopped in Foxboro Massachusetts where it was greeted with great enthusiasm by a sold-out audience at the Orpheum Theatre on School Street.
Now, one year later the Orpheum Theatre is welcoming the film and its writer Darren Smith back to Foxboro for an anniversary showing of the musical along with a meet and greet with the writer/composer himself.
