Taking their cues from influences such as Pink Floyd, Snoop Dog, Sonic Youth, Dr. Dre, Outcast, PJ Harvey, Genesis, Television, Throbbing Gristle, and Psychic TV, the Invisible Rays take you on a journey thatâs unlike any youâve been on before. The I. Rays forgo the traditional rock singer that would take the focus off of the music and replace him with spoken words samples that may have come from a â50s B-movie, old-time radio or perhaps a speech by a recently retired president. Which are you hearing now? Thatâs part of the intrigue.
Evelyn Pope (Ashby) and Scott Ricciuti (Huck) came together through their love of catchy pop melodies, boy/girl harmonies and minimal instrumentation. Armed with an old Wurlitzer electic piano (Evelyn), a ukelele and acoustic guitar (Scott) and some egg shakers and a tamborine they sing songs about pretty much anything that comes to mind, from Newport Jai-Lai to Longfellow's poem Song of Haiwatha.
Tin Can Caravan is a trio of consisting of Guitar, Accordion and Bass and topped off with a heavy helping of vocals and harmonies. Styles include Gypsy Jazz/Eastern European, Swing and Western music.
