Tell It To The Marines - February 6,7,8,13,14,15
TELL IT TO THE MARINES, a three-act play for the time at hand, deals with the effect of the War in Iraq on one family. The time is 2007. Retired Marine Major Leo Killeen believes in the war, as opposed to his twin brother Paul, also a retired Marine officer but now a priest. Leo Killeen's two sons, Andy and Steve, are both Marines. Andy, now discharged after a tour in Iraq, is completely opposed to the war and is unable to adjust to civilian life. Early in the play the family receives word about the other brother's fate in Iraq. The rest of the play is a study in reaction. Leo seriously re-considers his former commitments about the war. His wife, Edna, becomes a kind of Medea and is fearless in her hatred of the war and of war in general. In various domestic scenes as well as with a chance encounter with the then President of the United States in Walter Reed Hospital and a meeting with an FBI Agent, all the members of the family evolve into a new identity that foretells the life that will be theirs thereafter.
