Workshop presented by Alison Heimstead.
This three hour workshop will look at how to transform text into a visual language. We will use "Found Objects" and look at how materiality and movement can change a performance. Please bring a piece of text for which you have an affinity (200 words max). And if you have a good box a junk, bring it too! Please, no assembled puppets.
Artist Bio: Alison Heimstead fosters new puppet performance locally as the Performance Curator at In the Heart of the Beast Puppet and Mask Theatre. Her own puppet work has performed nationally at: La MaMa (NYC), Saint Ann's Warehouse, Labapalooza (NYC), The Museum of Jurassic Technology (LA), and many other venues. Alison has studied puppetry with Janie Geiser, Paul Zaloom, Dan Hurlin, Sandy Spieler, and Bread and Puppet Theater; she carries an MFA in puppetry and theater design from the California Institute of the Arts.
Coffee, donuts, materials, and fun all included in the registration fee!
