Michael Tomlinson
Michael returns to "the Thumb" for an intimate acoustic performance. A gifted singer, songwriter, and storyteller, we can't think of a better way too spend a winter evening in the Pacific Northwest.
For the thousands of people who listen to Michael Tomlinson's music, there is no specific genre to assign him. Folk rock and jazzy pop overlap, as do Americana and Bluegrass influences. His ballads are all his own; hauntingly beautiful introspectives that Van Toffler, longtime President of MTV and VH1, calls "completely without peer." About his most recent studio album, West Coast Music said, "This is the album I've been waiting 20 years for James Taylor to make." Three years ago Michael even received a personal letter from President Jimmy Carter, praising his song, Seeds of Love.
After several years in the late 80s and 90s recording for large international labels, Michael regained ownership of all his masters and returned to his home in Seattle and began working on what he called his own small "cottage industry." Writing and recording songs, performing concerts, hosting retreats and workshops around the U.S. His Gathering of Friends retreats were held over almost a decade at Fort Worden on the Olympic Peninsula, where people from all over the US and Europe would attend to spend a weekend among new friends, combining conversations and stories with music, food and laughter.
Michael will be recording an album of new material this winter and is currently performing his one man show around the nation. His concerts are an elegant flow of songs and stories and humor, warm-hearted events that leave his listeners inspired and entertained again and again. You may read Michael's stories, essays and humor on Facebook page at www.facebook.com/michael.tomlinson or visit his website www.michaeltomlinson.com for more information and music.
