La Follia Austin Baroque presents La Serva Padrona
La Follia celebrates the 300th anniversary of the birth of Giovanni Pergolesi with a fully staged production of his infamous and delightful comic operetta La Serva Padrona.
La Serva Padrona tells the story of the energetic, attractive and scheming servant girl Serpina who finds a way to wed her nobleman master Uberto. All ends happily with plenty of laughter, love, and vivacious, tuneful music to go around.
A miniature masterpiece of Italian comic opera, La Serva Padrona will win your heart as surely as Serpina wins Uberto.
Featuring Gitanjali Mathur as Serpina, Steven Olivares as Uberto, Valérie Chaussonnet as Vespone, and La Follia Austin Baroque with a full Baroque string ensemble. Marc Reynolds is stage director.
There will be a pre-concert lecture on Pergolesi by Dr. Guido Olivieri 20 minutes before curtain.
