The Ethics of Eating (and Growing) Food with Dr. Sapna E. Thottahil
Does growing your own food or buying local food conflict with supporting sustainable farmers from abroad? Can consumers trust foods with the organic label, even if the food is from another country? What can U.S. consumers and gardeners learn from organic farmers in places like India? Come find out in this evening lecture at Pollinate Farm & Garden. Sapna E. Thottathil, PhD author of India's Organic Farming Revolution and Oakland resident, will tackle these and other questions and explain how our global food system has come to take its complex shape over the years so that consumers are faced with these tough decisions. Sapna will also share details about the growing buy-local and organic farming movements in India. After the talk, she will be on hand to sign copies of her new book.
