Improv comedy skills are essential proficiencies that can take you well beyond the stage. The same principles that make for great comedy also apply to leadership skills, life skills and relationship building. Solid improv skills can help you succeed in many ways, including public speaking, improved creativity, stretching beyond your comfort zone in business and social arenas, building concentration and focus, finding connections and approaches that give fresh insights for problem solving, building trust, developing team-building skills, fostering camaraderie, and developing s terrific sense of humor … which you probably already have but you may not even know it! Whether you’re looking to get a head in your career, be the “life of the party,” or just have some serious fun, improv classes can help you be a better you. Give it a try! At the very least, it’s good for a few gazillion LAUGHS!

Event

Improv I

Led by performer, variety artist and instructor, Joel Newlon, this eight-week course is an introduction to improv at the Playhouse. Classes are open to students of all skill levels and will focus on basic techniques and games that will provide a solid foundation in improvisational performance. Performers and non-performers will learn basic improv skills and gain confidence in a fun, nurturing environment.

If you have never studied or performed with the L-DUB PLAYHOUSE COMEDY TROUPE, this is the class for you!

The class will culminate in a live improv performance on the Playhouse main stage on Monday, May 17.

Classes are open to high school age students and up, with no age maximum. No experience is required to participate.
