UTS Presents "Spring's Awakening"
Written by Frank Wedekind Directed by Alyson Roux
DESCRIPTION In this darkly comedic play, a group of teenagers undergo their sexual awakening, discovering the conflict between their biology and the adult society that they are about to join. Their parents' determination to repress their children's burgeoning sexual awareness and to preserve their innocence leads to tragedy. While written in 1891 at the dawn of German Expressionism, SPRING'S AWAKENING remains hauntingly familiar today and reflects on our own insecurities about sex.
