Vagina Monologues
A performance of the Vagina Monologues to benefit local San Francisco organization La Casa de Las Madres--the "city’s leading voice for abused women, their children and teens—educating, promoting awareness and changing the community’s and the media’s perceptions about domestic violence and its victims. Through a broad service continuum, La Casa also provides expert intervention and prevention services to more than 10,000 community members annually." A portion of our profits will also go to Eve Ensler's organization, V-day, to help women who are experiencing extreme sexual violence in the Democratic Republic of Congo. V-day is working to build the City of Joy, which " will support women to heal and provide them with opportunities to develop their leadership through programming in group therapy; storytelling; dance; theater; self- defense; comprehensive sexuality education (covering HIV/AIDS, family planning); ecology and horticulture; and economic empowerment." Through our performances we hope to raise awareness about the situation regarding violence against women on a local and global level while also fundraising to support those organizations working to end the violence and heal those who are victims of it.
