Club Nocturne: A Musical in the Making SATURDAY SHOW
Welcome to Club Nocturne, an intimate piano bar, where your story intertwines with others, where you recognize yourself in a stranger's song. The lights are low, the atmosphere inviting. A patient bartender been there forever knows your story even before you've told it; the pianist, also a fixture, understands your highs and lows, the rhythm and the rhyme of it all.
During the reading, performers will be on stools, telling their stories mostly through the songs, punctuated by commentary from the all-seeing, all knowing bartender, Doc. Six characters men and women, young and old, straight and gay. No matter what stage of life, they're all still trying to figure it out: they bitch and moan, they sing and sigh. They came in as strangers but as the songs are sung and the stories told, the characters find they are not just a random group of individuals they're in it together. As the evening unfolds, as the bartender fills us in, the parts become a whole.
