Elizabeth Lorrey with The Rafters
Elizabeth Lorrey crafts a dark blend of edgy, intense acoustic rock: slow-cooked, finely seasoned, with a hint of Suzanne Vega simmering in The Cure.
Awakening, released to a packed house at the Bull Run's prestigious Sawtelle Room in Shirley, MA, is a powerful opening statement from a singer/songwriter on the rise.
Opening: The Rafters
The Rafters are an acoustic-pop-married duo (Dave and Miki) who formed in the Merrimack Valley of MA during the summer of 2006. The Rafters' music is focused on melody and lyrics over a blend of pop/folk influences. The songs are snap shots into their lives and the people close to them. Themes can range from fears for a brother going off to war, dealing with a loved one's difficult medical news, to learning the beauty of a growing family. Running through and tying the music together are the threads of hope.
"The Rafters songs are about real people and real things"
Scott Alarik, Boston Globe
