The Wooden Floor MinEvent, with Choreography by Merce Cunningham and Video Work by Bill Viola
In a unique FREE engagement, the Studio at Sage Hill will host a rare opportunity to witness dancers from The Wooden Floor (formerly known as Saint Joseph Ballet) perform an uninterrupted sequence of excerpts drawn from Merce Cunningham's acclaimed "Roaratorio" (1983). This showing also features a screening of "Beach Birds for Camera," an award-winning film version of Merce Cunningham's breathtaking work from 1991, with a music score by John Cage. The Wooden Floor regularly sells out the Irvine Barclay Theater with its inspirational and unconventional showings. Merce Cunningham Dance Company helped revolutionize modern dance and is regarded as one of the finest dance companies in the world. The Studio at Sage Hill provides an ideal environment to experience this once in a lifetime event.
"From Here You Can Step Anywhere" The mission of The Wooden Floor, previously known as Saint Joseph Ballet, is to empower low-income youth from diverse backgrounds to build self esteem, self discipline, and a sense of accomplishment through dance, academic and family programs. **All patrons who have purchased tickets will be refunded - this has become a FREE event.**Admission is First Come First Serve and there is no need to register on this website.
